Accountabilities • Act as a technical authority for MES engineering solutions serving pulp and paper manufacturing operations, ensuring project execution complies with contractual commitments, quality standards, safety requirements, and OT cybersecurity policies.
• Work directly with customers to understand operational and technical requirements and translate them into effective, scalable MES solutions.
• Lead technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders, contributing to proposals, scope definition, solution design, technical estimations, and project planning.
• Develop technical work plans and cost estimates and support delivery of projects within agreed timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
• Lead MES implementation activities across the full lifecycle, including design, development, integration, testing, commissioning, stabilization, and support.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary internal teams to ensure systems are properly developed, tested, installed, commissioned, and transitioned into operation.
• Design system architectures and integration strategies connecting MES platforms with DCS/PLC systems, historians, ERP platforms, and other industrial technologies.
• Apply manufacturing standards and data models, including ISA-95 and ISA-88, to ensure effective integration and information flow.
• Support solution validation and troubleshooting throughout implementation, commissioning, and stabilization phases.
• Mentor junior engineers by reviewing technical deliverables, sharing best practices, providing guidance, and promoting continuous technical development.
• Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives across projects and technical delivery practices.
Requirements
• At least 5 years of professional experience in the pulp and paper process manufacturing industry.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working with MES platforms such as ABB MES, Honeywell Optivision, Majiq Elixor, Tieto MES, or equivalent solutions.
• Proven experience delivering full MES lifecycle implementations, including design, development, commissioning, stabilization, and support.
• Strong knowledge of ISA-95, ISA-88, and manufacturing data models.
• Solid experience integrating MES solutions with DCS/PLC systems, historians, ERP platforms, and other industrial systems.
• Strong database knowledge, particularly SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
• Ability to design system architectures and integration strategies for complex industrial environments.
• Experience contributing to large-scale industrial projects involving multidisciplinary teams and multiple stakeholders.
• Strong customer-facing, communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to manage technical priorities, collaborate across functions, and deliver high-quality work in complex project environments.
• Experience with OPC UA, OPC DA, REST APIs, or MQTT is a plus.
• Experience developing reports and dashboards using Crystal Reports, SSRS, and/or Power BI is desirable.
• Knowledge of Linux administration, BSH/C programming, GNU compiler/debugger, SAP Business Objects, Python, ABB Genix, or similar analytics technologies is advantageous.
• Familiarity with OT cybersecurity practices and Advanced Process Control (APC) integration with MES is considered a differentiator.
• Experience in mining or other process industries beyond pulp and paper is also a plus.
