Accountabilities • Provide single-session counselling, in-the-moment emotional support, and crisis management through telephone and video-based services, with additional support through chat and email.
• Conduct thorough clinical assessments to determine client needs and suitability for short-term counselling.
• Support clients experiencing mental health symptoms, substance use concerns, relationship or family challenges, and crisis or high-risk situations.
• Manage high-risk situations appropriately, collaborating with clients and making timely referrals to suitable internal or external resources.
• Develop clear, concise treatment or support plans aligned with each client's needs and the short-term counselling model.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
• Use a warm, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach when supporting people of different ages, backgrounds, and life circumstances.
• Participate in ongoing clinical supervision, professional development, training, and initiatives that promote quality care and clinical excellence.
• Complete other relevant responsibilities associated with the role as required by management.
Requirements
• Master's degree in mental health, counselling, psychology, social work, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct client-contact experience providing counselling or mental health services.
• Fluency in both French and English , with the ability to provide clinical support effectively in both languages.
• Experience using clinical assessment tools and short-term counselling approaches such as Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Integrative, or Systemic counselling.
• Ability to provide compassionate and effective support in remote, technology-enabled counselling environments.
• Strong clinical assessment, active listening, communication, documentation, and crisis-management skills.
• Ability to work confidently with clients presenting with complex emotional, behavioural, family, relationship, or substance-use concerns.
• Training or experience in crisis intervention and supporting high-risk clients is an advantage.
• Professional licensure is not required ; clinical supervision and dedicated allowances are available to support the journey toward obtaining licensure.
• Strong empathy, sound clinical judgment, cultural awareness, and the ability to remain composed and supportive during challenging conversations.
• Availability to work overnight shifts and, depending on preference, either full-time at approximately 40 hours per week or part-time at approximately 30 hours per week.
