The role and its impact

As a Senior Engineer on the Enterprise Platforms team, you will provide technical expertise across the platforms, integrations, automations, and AI tools that support Xero’s global teams. You will help navigate complex technical challenges from planning through implementation, keeping systems secure, reliable, scalable, and easy to use.

Serving as a trusted technical guide, you will offer practical advice on system changes, incidents, and continuous improvement. Working alongside your Platform Lead, you will improve technical standards, reduce system clutter, and build reusable solutions that make daily work smoother for everyone.

The team and how they connect

The Enterprise Platforms team partners closely with Product Managers, Analysts, Security, Architecture, and Operations to deliver sensible internal solutions. They look after Xero's core SaaS platforms, cloud services, and custom integrations, collaborating through configuration sessions, pair problem-solving, and shared learning. Together, the team focuses on streamlining workflows and maintaining operational excellence across internal technologies.

Initially, you will focus on

- Enhancing enterprise SaaS platforms, cloud services, and internal automation workflows using APIs and modern platform features.

- Designing, developing, and supporting integrations, data migrations, and AI-enabled workflows to connect internal systems safely.

- Investigating complex technical incidents, determining root causes, and applying lasting fixes to keep production systems stable.

- Creating clear documentation, runbooks, policies, and reusable design patterns to support consistent platform management.

Where and how you can work

Xero offers a flexible hybrid working model designed to give you balance and connection. You will work from our modern office spaces, coming together with your team on designated boost days to collaborate, connect, and innovate, while enjoying the flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week.

Here are some of the things we are looking for

- A strong background in building, configuring, and supporting cloud services or enterprise SaaS platforms.

- Practical experience creating integrations, automations, or system workflows using APIs, scripting, and modern tools.

- Demonstrated ability to diagnose technical incidents, resolve root causes, and maintain reliable production environments.

- Talent for translating business and user needs into clear, secure, and practical technical solutions.

- Expertise in applying security guidelines, access controls, and change management principles within live systems.

- Skill in mentoring team members, sharing technical knowledge, and communicating complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.

Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
