Job Opportunity: Senior Manager with Clark Schaefer Hackett

Are you an experienced accounting leader who combines technical depth with strong business judgment? Do you enjoy developing teams, strengthening client relationships, and helping businesses move toward more strategic financial support? If so, we want to hear from you!

As a Senior Manager, you will serve as the technical authority and final reviewer for an assigned portfolio of clients while leading Managers and their teams. You will set the standard for quality, approve complex accounting treatment and financial statements, oversee portfolio economics and capacity, and build trusted relationships with clients and their professional advisors.

Responsibilities include:

• Serve as the final technical reviewer for an assigned client portfolio and approve complex or non-routine accounting treatment.

• Own preparation and compilation standards, workpaper quality, reporting language, independence decisions, and disclosures.

• Approve the scope, effort estimates, and pricing for cleanup, catch-up, and multi-period reconstruction engagements.

• Manage portfolio realization, margin, pricing, fee adjustments, billing, client acceptance, and continuance of engagement.

• Build relationships with business owners and decision-makers and serve as the primary liaison to tax preparers, auditors, lenders, insurance brokers, and other advisors.

• Lead Managers and their team’s, ensuring work is timely, accurate, and held to a consistent standard.

• Own staffing, capacity, resource planning, performance evaluations, ratings, compensation recommendations, development, and retention for the assigned book.

• Coach Managers, create a culture of continuous feedback, and participate in recruiting and selecting talent for the team.

• Produce measurable business development results through service expansion, referrals, cross-selling, proposals, and industry involvement.

The ideal candidate is a confident accounting leader with strong technical judgment, a track record of developing high-performing teams, and the ability to balance quality, client service, portfolio economics, and growth. This person will be comfortable leading within a collaborative, fully paperless team environment and working directly with business owners and external advisors. Additionally, this candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; required.

• Active CPA license and/or MBA strongly preferred.

• 8-12 years of public or private accounting experience, including substantial experience with after-the-fact, compilation, or outsourced accounting engagements; required.

• At least three years of experience leading a high-performing team, including responsibility for written evaluations, ratings, and employee development; required.

• Experience leading or working with a collaborative team strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated business development results through scope expansion, referrals, cross-selling, or service migration.

• Advanced Excel skills and expert-level knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero, Sage 50, and related workpaper, trial balance, and document-management tools.

• Strong knowledge of 1099 filing, sales and use tax, personal property tax, and payroll tax reporting.

• Strong executive presence, research ability, relationship-building skills, and the ability to price and defend fees.

• Ability to work additional hours during time-sensitive client periods and travel occasionally to client or firm locations.
