Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking a  ​ Electrolyte R&D Scientist I/II ​  to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment.  

The Electrolyte R&D team specializes in research and development of solid-state electrolytes, including development of new materials, and improvements and modifications of production materials. This role will work alongside senior scientists to develop solid-state electrolytes.   

Job Duties:

• Work closely with and under the direction of   senior   s cientists  to execute planned experimentation  aimed at  modifications and improvements to solid-state electrolytes.  

• Performs  material  synthesis,   characterization,  data acquisition ,  and analysis .  

• Communicate results and  roadblocks  to   the  broader team .  

• Perform regular and required housekeeping  such as lab and glassware cleaning.  

• Always follow all facility and  laboratory  safety rules and  regulations,  e nsur ing  safe h andl ing and proper disposal of  hazardous materials and equipment .  

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelors in   Chemistry ,  Chemical  Engineering ,  Materials Engineering ,  or related d egree from an accredited college/university.  

• Experience in an academic or industrial lab environment  

• Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is  required .   

• Experience in material characterization techniques is a plus  ( XRD,  EIS,   FTIR ,  DSC/TGA,  Raman,  SEM /EDS )  

• Experience in synthetic chemistry.  

• Experience with  statistical   and relevant software ( design  of experiments  (D.O.E.)  a plus ).   

• Knowledge of Li-ion battery materials optimization and synthesis  is preferred  

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.   

Physical Requirements:

• Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk .  

• Prolonged periods of standing

• Ability to work in gloveboxes and dry rooms 

Salary Range: $70,000 - $120,000/year
