About the Role

The Senior Medical Editor ensures exceptional quality control across all medical and scientific content, while leading editorial excellence, process development, and proper referencing. You are passionate about healthcare and the role that evidence-based, accurate content plays in enabling informed decisions. You're a meticulous professional with a genuine interest in science, a connector who thrives in collaborative environments, and a leader committed to mentoring and elevating editorial standards across the team.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control & Scientific Accuracy

• Proofreading and copy-editing a wide range of scientific and commercial content, from draft manuscripts through to final artwork

• Conducting rigorous fact-checking of scientific data, including validation of content against publications, clinical guidelines, EMA documents and other scientific sources

• Checking and annotating all references for completeness and accuracy

• Applying the agency style guide and client- and product-specific guidelines, with responsibility for updating existing guides and creating new ones

Veeva PromoMats & Platform Management

• Managing document upload workflows in Veeva PromoMats,

• Linking and organising references within Veeva PromoMats to enable seamless client review and approval workflows

Process Development & Standardisation

• Leading the development and refinement of editorial processes to enhance efficiency, consistency and quality across the team

• Creating templates, checklists, and workflows that elevate editorial standards

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Mentoring

• Partnering effectively with the Medical Writing team: helping writers develop stories, creating reference packs, annotating manuscripts, providing time estimates and constructive feedback

• Mentoring junior editors on best practices, scientific accuracy, and editorial excellence

• Serving as the subject matter expert for agency-wide English-language and healthcare communication queries

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Native English speaker or equivalent level

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a healthcare, pharmaceutical or medical communications setting

• Proven expertise in fact-checking scientific content and validating references

• Degree or equivalent in English, Communications, Life Sciences or a related discipline

• Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail

• Organized and capable of multitasking, managing multiple projects simultaneously

• Demonstrated experience with Veeva PromoMats or similar document management/compliance platforms

Desirable

• Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat mark-up, EndNote and other reference management systems

• Familiarity with regulatory guidance and compliance requirements in pharmaceutical marketing

• Experience with healthcare style guides and brand guidelines

• Background in scientific or medical writing
