About the role

As a Lead Software Engineer at OfficeSpace, you'll shape the future of our workplace platform by building scalable products, leading technical execution, and raising the engineering bar across the team.

You'll combine deep technical expertise with strong engineering leadership. From architecting distributed systems to mentoring teammates and designing AI-powered engineering workflows, you'll help us deliver enterprise software that is reliable, secure, and built to scale.

This is a hands-on leadership role. We provide the platform. You drive the impact.

 

What you'll do

- Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of high-performance applications using Ruby on Rails, React, and modern cloud technologies.

- Build scalable, maintainable software that supports enterprise customers across a rapidly growing platform.

- Design AI-assisted engineering tools, workflows, and automation that improve developer productivity, code quality, and customer outcomes.

- Own projects end-to-end—from technical discovery through production deployment and long-term ownership.

- Shift quality left by embedding automated testing, code quality practices, and continuous validation early in the development lifecycle.

- Drive predictable delivery by managing scope, balancing technical debt, protecting sprint commitments, and reducing reactive work.

- Establish performance benchmarks and continuously optimize application speed, scalability, and reliability.

- Champion security, technical integrity, and sustainable architecture across the platform.

- Mentor engineers through thoughtful coaching, calibrated support, code reviews, and technical leadership while encouraging increasing ownership as teammates grow.

- Turn ambiguous product requirements into well-scoped, testable engineering work with measurable success criteria before implementation begins.

- Partner closely with Product, Design, Engineering Leadership, and R&D Architecture to deliver cohesive technical solutions aligned to long-term strategy.

- Lead recurring knowledge-sharing sessions, architecture discussions, retrospectives, and technical brown bags that elevate engineering excellence across the organization.

 

What you bring

- 7+ years building modern full-stack applications.

- Strong experience with Ruby on Rails and React, or equivalent expertise with modern backend and frontend technologies.

- Experience designing scalable distributed systems serving enterprise customers.

- Deep understanding of API design using GraphQL, REST, or similar technologies.

- Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and modern data technologies including Kafka, BigQuery, Flink, Redis, Elasticsearch, or comparable tools.

- Proven ability to optimize application performance through benchmarking, observability, and scalability engineering.

- Experience designing, building, or customizing AI-enabled engineering workflows—not simply using AI assistants.

- Demonstrated success leading engineering teams through technical delivery, sprint execution, and architectural decision-making.

- Experience serving as a team lead, rotating lead, or backup lead—including facilitating stand-ups, retrospectives, planning sessions, and coaching teammates.

- Strong systems thinking with the ability to transform ambiguous business problems into clear technical solutions.

- Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

- AI fluency, including prompt engineering, AI workflow orchestration, evaluation of AI outputs, and responsible use of AI throughout the software development lifecycle. Why OfficeSpace?
