What the employer wrote

WHY MINTLIFY?

We're on a mission to empower builders.

- Massive reach: Our docs platform serves 100 million+ developers every year and powers documentation for 20,000+ companies, including Anthropic, Microsoft, PayPal, Spotify, Coinbase, X, and over 20% of the last YC batch.

- Small team, huge impact: We recently passed 65 employees and raised a $45 million Series B led by A16Z and Salesforce Ventures. Each new hire has a huge impact on shaping the company's trajectory.

- Culture of slope over y-intercept https://mattrickard.com/hire-slope-not-intercept: We value learning velocity, grit, and unapologetically unique personalities.

We grew in value faster than headcount and we’re looking to align the two quickly.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Partner directly with the founders. We are looking for a strategic thought partner who can challenge thinking, help shape company and product strategy, translate that vision into engineering priorities, and take real ownership of the decisions required to scale the business.

- Build a world class engineering organization. Demand is outpacing Mintlify’s current engineering capacity, making talent and execution one of the biggest constraints on growth. Scale the team, attract exceptional talent, and build the organization needed to capitalize on the demand already in front of the company.

- Turn product innovation into Mintlify’s next phase of growth. Help develop and launch major new product lines as the company expands beyond its core documentation platform, enabling multiple product bets to run in parallel without sacrificing speed, quality, or reliability.

- Own engineering execution and the technical foundation. Set priorities across product, platform, and infrastructure, improve engineering velocity and reliability, and ensure the organization can support Mintlify’s rapidly growing scale and enterprise customer base.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- Proven scaling experience. Has scaled an engineering organization from roughly 10 to 50 engineers at an early stage company and understands the challenges that come with rapid growth.

- Deep technical credibility. A hands on engineering leader with strong experience across modern backend systems, cloud infrastructure, platform architecture, and systems at scale.

- An exceptional talent builder. Has a track record of identifying, recruiting, developing, and retaining high caliber engineers and views recruiting as a core part of the job.

- Strong product and business judgment. Has owned a product line end to end and understands how engineering decisions connect to customer needs, product outcomes, and company growth.

- A first principles, high agency leader. Low ego, comfortable with ambiguity, willing to give direct feedback, and thoughtful about designing the right processes and operating rhythms for the company’s current stage rather than importing a playbook from somewhere else.

COMPANY BENEFITS:

- Competitive compensation and equity

- 20 days paid time off every year

- 401k with Employer Match

- monthly wellness stipend

- 100% employee coverage for Health, Dental, Vision

- Commute stipend to help get you to and from work

- Free lunch and dinners

- Annual team offsite (previously went to Alaska, Hawaii, Jackson Hole)
