• Diagnose complex technical issues across owned systems, implement effective solutions, and use incidents as opportunities for system and process improvements.

• Make critical technical decisions that keep projects on track while adapting solutions to evolving client requirements.

• Evaluate and integrate AI and ML capabilities responsibly where they can provide meaningful business or user value.

• Mentor junior engineers and support their development across modern frameworks, software engineering practices, and AI-augmented development.

• Build strong working relationships with internal teams, clients, partners, and other stakeholders.

• Participate in technical interviews and contribute to evaluating engineering candidates.

• Foster continuous learning around emerging technologies such as generative AI, prompt engineering, and agentic architectures.

• Communicate technical issues, designs, and developments clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Present system designs, architecture diagrams, technical proposals, and recommendations to clients, stakeholders, partners, and engineering teams.

• Serve as a primary technical lead and point of expertise when engaging with project stakeholders.

• Improve engineering processes and practices, including the adoption of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, and automated testing.

• Evaluate alternative technical and process approaches using data-driven insights where appropriate.

• Champion best practices in modern JavaScript development, cloud architecture, CI/CD, and responsible AI integration.

• Lead small, temporary, or lower-risk project or team structures when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, combined with 7+ years of software engineering experience.

• 5+ years of professional JavaScript or TypeScript development across the full stack.

• Strong experience building modern, responsive front-end applications with React and/or Next.js.

• Proficiency with Node.js and server-side JavaScript frameworks such as Express, Fastify, or comparable technologies.

• Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services.

• Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar technologies.

• Strong full-stack troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose complex technical issues.

• Proficiency with Git and modern CI/CD workflows.

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools and the ability to validate AI-generated outputs through sound engineering judgment.

• Prior experience with government contracting is preferred.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is preferred.

• Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML services or LLM APIs, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI, or comparable technologies, into production applications is preferred.

• Familiarity with RAG, prompt engineering, agentic workflows, or other AI application patterns is preferred.

• Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices, including Docker, Terraform, and GitHub Actions, is preferred.

• Experience working within Agile development methodologies is preferred.

• Familiarity with accessibility standards such as Section 508 and WCAG, particularly in government environments, is a plus.

• Ability to obtain a Public Trust or low-level security clearance.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident and authorized to work domestically.

• Must be able to work from within the United States and, due to the nature of the work, from the contiguous United States.

• Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to take ownership of technical work, make sound decisions, and balance independent execution with collaborative problem-solving.
