Accountabilities: • Support the successful launch and urgent post-approval access of the therapy by educating payer customers and treatment-center financial stakeholders on the product value proposition, approved information, reimbursement considerations, and available access resources.
• Enable payer coverage assessments through appropriate pre-approval information exchanges and post-approval engagement with national and regional payers across Commercial, Medicare, and VA sectors.
• Support the broader market access strategy by engaging Federal Payers and Medicare Fee-for-Service stakeholders and contributing to strategic market access priorities.
• Educate payers on the urgent unmet need and provide appropriate resources and information to help establish viable coverage pathways before and after regulatory approval.
• Identify appropriate payer stakeholders and collaborate with payer-facing colleagues to facilitate expedited review of relevant patient cases and support appropriate access pathways.
• Provide approved product education and health-economic information to payer and provider stakeholders, clearly communicating the therapy’s value proposition and relevant reimbursement considerations.
• Partner with treatment centers, payer relations teams, and other site-of-care stakeholders to build reimbursement confidence and address coverage, coding, and reimbursement questions following approval.
• Prepare potential treatment centers to become reimbursement-ready by ensuring providers and payers have timely information regarding prior authorization requirements, coding, coverage policies, setting-of-care considerations, and potential single-case agreements.
• Serve as the primary field resource for education on patient assistance programs at treatment sites and act as a field expert on market access issues related to trade policy.
• Liaise with specialty distribution partners and other external stakeholders to support access objectives and provide a high-quality experience for sites of care.
• Proactively communicate payer coverage criteria and relevant access updates to internal field teams and external site-of-care stakeholders.
• Monitor payer, policy, and market trends, assess their implications, and contribute expertise to the broader US Value and Access team.
• Operate in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and compliance requirements while building transparent, productive partnerships across cross-functional teams.
Requirements
• A Bachelor’s degree is required; healthcare-related degrees or credentials are desirable.
• At least 10 years of experience in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals is required, including a minimum of 5 years of direct experience with coverage and reimbursement dynamics for complex advanced therapies , such as cell therapy, gene therapy, or radioligand therapies.
• Strong, established working relationships with national and regional payers managing medical and pharmacy benefit policies are required.
• Deep knowledge of inpatient and outpatient reimbursement methodologies, healthcare economics, and the financial dynamics that influence hospital access is essential.
• Experience with cell and gene therapy networks and payer Medical Director teams responsible for advanced therapy products is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Cell, Gene, or Stem Cell Transplant service lines and established relationships with financial key opinion leaders at healthcare institutions are highly desirable.
• Experience with pharmacy and therapeutics committees and high-impact drug review processes within healthcare institutions is preferred.
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills are required, with the executive presence and confidence to engage effectively with senior payer, provider, and institutional stakeholders.
• Strong business acumen and healthcare administrative expertise are essential, together with the ability to understand complex reimbursement and access challenges.
• The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining strong cross-functional relationships and contributing to site-of-care account planning is required.
• A patient-centric mindset, collaborative approach, humility, innovative thinking, sound judgment, and strong relationship-building skills are important for success in this role.
• The position requires domestic travel of up to 30% and the ability to work remotely within the United States.
