Senior Software Engineer (Java) Job Purpose As a Senior Software Engineer at CI&T, you will serve as a technical leader and mentor within cross-functional project teams, taking ownership of complex software solutions and technical decisions. You will design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise applications, including mission-critical legacy systems, while mentoring engineers and promoting engineering excellence. You will contribute to technical strategy, lead critical software initiatives, support production environments, and collaborate with global teams and stakeholders to deliver reliable and scalable solutions. Required Technical Stack Core Tech Stack: Java | J2EE | MySQL | AWS | REST/SOAP | CI/CD Java – Strong experience with Java 8+ and enterprise application development J2EE – Experience with Servlets, JSP, and enterprise technologies MySQL – Experience with complex queries, optimization, stored procedures, and large databases Web Technologies – JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MVC AWS – Experience with S3, RDS, ECS, and other AWS services Web Services – Experience with REST and SOAP CI/CD – Experience with Git, Maven, and CI/CD practices Data Integration – Experience with ETL and SFTP Key Accountabilities Technical Leadership & Engineering Excellence Lead the design, development, troubleshooting, testing, and deployment of complex features and defect resolutions Maintain, refactor, and modernize existing Java/J2EE applications while managing technical debt Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions Establish coding standards, best practices, code reviews, and testing strategies Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex technical issues Drive application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability Evaluate new technologies and contribute to technical risk assessments and proof-of-concept initiatives Team Development & Mentorship Mentor junior and middle-level engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing Support onboarding, knowledge transfer, and continuous learning Contribute to technical hiring, interviews, and assessments Provide constructive feedback and support team development Share expertise in Java, J2EE, MySQL, AWS, REST/SOAP, and CI/CD Project Execution & Delivery Take ownership of complex technical tasks from design through deployment Deliver reliable, high-quality solutions within project timelines Provide technical estimates and planning input Coordinate technical dependencies across teams Contribute to Agile practices, release management, deployment, and production validation Balance feature delivery with technical debt and system maintenance Client & Stakeholder Engagement Participate in client and technical discussions to understand requirements Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions Contribute to technical documentation and solution design Communicate technical issues, risks, recommendations, and resolutions clearly Provide technical input on feasibility, timelines, and project requirements Maintain strong client relationships through technical excellence Business Adaptability & Professional Growth Demonstrate Technical Leadership: Take ownership of complex challenges and make informed technical decisions Drive Continuous Growth: Adapt to new projects, technologies, and evolving business needs Execute Quality-Focused Development: Prioritize secure, scalable, maintainable, and well-tested solutions Practice Effective Communication: Clearly communicate technical concepts and collaborate across teams Promote Engineering Excellence: Continuously improve development practices, system reliability, and delivery quality Core Technology Requirements Java | J2EE | MySQL | JavaScript | HTML | CSS | MVC | AWS | REST/SOAP | Git | Maven | CI/CD | ETL | SFTP Strong hands-on experience in Java enterprise development, application modernization, production support, database optimization, AWS, and CI/CD is expected.
